WINDOW & DOOR SERVICES
The right windows and doors can open your home to more light, fresh air and uninterrupted views. Dowell supports window and door installations in Melbourne and across Victoria as well as in Hobart and throughout Tasmania, with practical and architectural designs suited to different homes, lifestyles and budgets.
Our services extend from supplying and installing windows and doors for new home builders to replacing ageing systems in established homes. From product selection and delivery through to professional installation and finishing, Dowell provides a more streamlined way to complete your project.
From framing the outdoors to improving everyday comfort, we help you select systems that complement the space and perform as intended.

From award-winning landscape design and television to sustainable living, Jamie Durie has built an international career around creating more thoughtful, connected spaces. As a recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia, he brings recognised expertise in horticulture, design and environmental responsibility to his work with Dowell.
This partnership helps showcase how Australian-made windows and doors can contribute to better-performing homes. Through double glazing, thermally broken frames and continued local innovation, Jamie and Dowell are highlighting solutions that can reduce heat transfer, support acoustic comfort and improve everyday liveability across new builds and replacement projects.
MADE FOR LASTING LIVEABILITY
Dowell provides two distinct services: window and door replacements for Victorian properties, as well as coordinated installations for builders.
For new home builders, we can design, supply, deliver and install the selected windows and doors at the required stage of construction. Instead of dropping the products on the slab and leaving the builder to organise a carpenter to return, Dowell can complete the installation before the external cladding or brickwork goes up. This helps reduce reliance on other trades, minimise scheduling delays and keep the build moving to planned timeframes.
For homeowners, ageing windows and doors can affect comfort, security, operation and the overall appearance of the property. Our replacement service considers the entire opening, with experienced installers completing insulation, waterproofing, architrave replacement and painting where the project requires it.
Across both new construction and replacement work, we follow relevant AGWA (Australian Glass and Window Association) guidance and install appropriately selected WERS-rated (Window Energy Rating Scheme) products with their intended performance in mind.

When replacing windows and doors in Victoria, aluminium can be a strong option for homeowners who want a durable frame with plenty of design choices. Its powder-coated finishes are available in a broad range of colours, helping new windows and doors sit more naturally alongside roofing, gutters and other exterior details.
Aluminium also works well where a slimmer frame or a larger glazed opening is preferred, which can help create a more open look and make the most of available views. For homes where thermal performance is a priority, thermally broken aluminium systems can provide improved insulation while maintaining the practical, low-maintenance benefits of aluminium.
uPVC can deliver good thermal performance, but aluminium may provide more choice when it comes to frame styles, finishes and overall appearance. Depending on the product and project requirements, it may also be a more economical option.
Browse options from our UrbanLine™, DesignerLine® and ThermaLine ranges, with designs suited to different spaces, ventilation needs, outlooks and architectural styles.
We start by understanding whether the project involves a new build or an existing property. We then review the plans or current openings and discuss priorities such as natural light, ventilation, comfort, appearance, access, security and ease of use.
For builders, this stage also covers delivery timing and the point in the construction program when the windows and doors need to be installed.
We confirm the dimensions of each opening, refine the preferred window and door configuration and prepare a quote based on the glazing, colour, hardware, security and scope.
Where construction plans are available, we can review the specified products and coordinate the installation requirements with the builder.
For new homes, we align product delivery and installation with the construction schedule so the windows and doors can be fitted before brickwork or cladding progresses.
For residential replacements, we remove the existing products and inspect the openings for preparation, repair or finishing work required before the new systems are installed.
The selected windows and doors are installed in line with relevant requirements, with close attention to positioning, smooth operation, insulation, sealing, waterproofing and the finish around each opening.
Our replacement workmanship can also include new architraves and painting where required, reducing the need for the homeowner to arrange separate finishing trades. Relevant AGWA installation guidance is followed throughout the work.
The work is carefully planned to minimise disruption and can usually be completed while you continue living in your home.
We complete final checks to confirm each window and door works smoothly, seals correctly and meets the agreed project requirements.
The finished installation is also reviewed for alignment and surrounding workmanship, helping appropriately selected WERS-rated products deliver their intended performance.

INFORMED ADVICE, DEPENDABLE COVERAGE
A trusted provider should offer accurate measurements, practical product guidance and installation completed in line with relevant Australian Standards. Builders also need a team that can work within the construction program, while homeowners should understand how the complete opening will be prepared, sealed and finished.
Dowell’s experienced installers work across new-build and residential replacement projects. For builders, we provide an integrated supply, delivery and installation service that can reduce trade coordination. For homeowners, our workmanship extends to insulation, waterproofing, sealing, architraves and painting where required, not simply placing a new product into the opening.
Dowell products also carry a seven-year limited manufacturer’s warranty against defects arising from faulty workmanship. Eligible installation work carried out by Dowell is also covered for seven years, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.

The cost of replacing the windows and doors in your Melbourne home can vary depending on the size, style, glazing, hardware and number of products required. Site access, removal of the existing windows or doors and any repairs or alterations to the openings can also affect the final price.
The need for insulation, waterproofing, new architraves or painting may also influence the quote. Larger openings, custom designs and projects involving several windows and doors may involve a greater investment than straightforward like-for-like replacements.
